McMurry University is a diverse campus of 1,100 students located in Abilene, Texas, a community of about 125,000 people. Students from around the world are welcomed into our campus community, challenged intellectually in our 50+ academic programs, and encouraged to connect to campus life.

  1. Submit your free online application here.
  2. Submit official transcripts from high school and any colleges attended. If your school is abroad, transcripts must be translated into English.
  3. If native language is not English, submit proof of:
    1. Duolingo English Test score of at least 105
    2. TOEFL score of at least 213 computer-based, 550 paper-based, or 79 Internet-based
    3. IELTS score of at least 6.5 or
    4. 24 transferrable hours from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, including English 1310 and English 1320
  4. Copy of Passport
  5. Scores from the SAT/ACT exams are not required, unless used as the Proof of English Proficiency, but are highly encouraged.

After all items are received, application files will be processed. Admission decisions will be posted online within a student’s secure application portal. International students are encouraged to have the admission process completed at least one month prior to the start of classes.

 

After your admission to McMurry, the following items are required before an I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for Non-Immigrant Status, will be sent. All items may be submitted through your secure application portal here.

After receiving your I-20 and paying the I-901 fee, make an appointment with the U.S. Embassy/Consulate closest to you in your home country, to apply for your F-1 Student Visa.

 

  • Estimated Costs

  • “A limited number of international scholarships to cover up to 50% of tuition are available from McMurry University each year to full time students. The student is responsible for all other expenses not covered by the scholarship. This scholarship will be decided by a committee and students must complete their intended degree within a maximum of eight (8) continuous fall and spring semesters. This scholarship cannot be used for intercollegiate classes or at the Patty Hanks School of Nursing.”

Abilene is an inclusive, safe, and welcoming West Texas community of approximately 125,000—and the perfect place to call home for the next four years. Abilene is home to three universities, two colleges, a US Air Force Base.

  • Abilene is located near the geographic center of Texas and is within drivable distance of the state’s major cities:

  • Dallas/Fort Worth: 150 miles (approximately 2 hours, 30 minutes driving time)

  • San Antonio: 250 miles (approximately 4 hours driving time)

  • Houston: 350 miles (approximately 5 hours, 45 minutes driving time)

 

 

  • Approximately 200 restaurants, with cuisine ranging from traditional Texas staples such as barbecue, Mexican food, and steak to global cuisine from Thailand, Greece, and the Middle East.

  • Twenty-seven parks, including the Abilene Zoo, along with the Abilene State Park.

  • Bowling alleys, miniature golf courses, five movie theatres, and plenty of fun!

  • Frequent musical, dance, and theatrical performances and six museums.
