McMurry University is a diverse campus community located in west central Texas focused on providing students with a well-rounded education and preparation for career. McMurry is ranked as one of the best value universities in the South and a top 10 small university in Texas. Our vibrant campus community provides numerous ways to get connected and involved. International students are assigned a student success coach to guide them through their education and to serve as a mentor as you get accustomed to our community. McMurry is located in Abilene, Texas, a mid-sized city of 125,000 with a great downtown scene, low-cost of living, and close proximity to major metro cities in Texas.

How to Apply

  1. Submit your free online application
  2. Submit official transcripts showing a complete academic history, including all courses taken and grades earned, from high school and any colleges attended. If your school is abroad, transcripts must be translated into English and include grading scales.
  3. If your native language is not English, submit proof of:
    a. Duolingo English Test score of at least 105
    b. TOEFL score of at least 213 computer-based, 550 paper-based, or 79 Internet-based
    c. IELTS score of at least 6.5 or
    d. 24 transferrable hours from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, including English 1310 and English 1320
  4. Copy of Passport
  5. Scores from the SAT/ACT exams are not required, unless used as the Proof of English Proficiency, but are highly encouraged

After all items are received, application files will be processed. Admission decisions will be posted online within a student’s secure application portal. International students are encouraged to have the admission process completed at least one month prior to the start of classes.

After your admission to McMurry, the following items are required before an I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for Non-Immigrant Status will be electronically posted to your application portal. All items may be submitted through your secure application portal.

After receiving your I-20 and paying the I-901 fee, make an appointment with the U.S. Embassy/Consulate closest to you in your home country, to apply for your F-1 Student Visa.

Upon receiving your visa, contact your Admission Counselor to coordinate your travel and arrival to campus.
